The Mikoroshoni project

Year 9 students at Hollingworth BEC in Milnrow, Rochdale were introduced to the Mikoroshoni project when they met John Brooker who came into College to explain about life in Mikoroshoni.

Students were so inspired by John’s accounts that this lead to the Mikoroshoni animation projects. Every student in Year 9 designed a storyboard for an animation to promote the Mikoroshoni Charity School and to highlight the differences between life for students at Hollingworth and those at Mikoroshoni.

The students’ designs were then narrowed down and winning groups were chosen to make their animation design into a final project. With the help of Sue Reddish from Creative Partnership, students spent a day making models and filming their animations.

In July all the animations were screened in a special assembly where all Year 9 students could vote for their favourite animation. The final results can be seen here.
